World Letter Writing Day 2018.
Who has written a letter recently? Who did you write it to?
Was it somebody you’ve met before or a stranger you never knew?
As much as I love writing, I’ve never written to a friend.
The only letters I’ve drafted are the ones at work I send.
I’ve never talked about my life or engaged with others about theirs,
Despite all of the little secrets I’ve always wanted to share.
Yesterday was World Letter Day 2018.
No better time than now for my words to be shared and seen.
With help from the people at Viking I’ve been part of an exciting campaign,
To bring letter writing to the forefront – making it fun and popular again.
They sent me a beautiful parcel containing everything from a writers dream;
A quill, stamps and ink plus a wax seal kit to top off my happy beam.
The idea behind the parcel is to be creative – enjoying the art of the written word,
Making my letters very visual and not just my words that are to be heard.
Alongside my box of goodies was the name of my new friend.
A lady in the Netherlands will receive the letter that I have penned.
Other than her name, I know very little more,
So writing my letter this week has been something new for me to explore.
Starting a conversation with someone I don’t know,
Building a few small bridges for our relationship to steadily grow.
I kept my letter simple knowing that we each speak a language of our own,
Hopefully highlighting my friendly personality with my charming and warm tone.
I’ve finished my letter with decorations and a pretty gold wax seal,
Adding to the uniqueness and the personal hand writen appeal.
I’ve today sent off my letter and hope my new friend has done so too.
I’m very excited to receive it after the few hundred miles it would of flew.
Thankyou to Viking to allowing me to be part of this very special and unique campaign. For more details, please visit Viking’s website here Viking’s Blog.
