Have you seen the advert? What did you think?
Maybe you’ve seen the teaser with sparkling eyes that blink.
If you haven’t seen it, you’ve probably heard,
It’s about a big monster all cuddly and furred.
The huge great monster lives under a bed.
Although very realistic he’s all in Joes head.
The scene plays out with Joe scared at night.
The huge snoring monster had given him a fright.
“No monsters allowed” was written on the door;
But Moz was still there on Joes bedroom floor.
Moz the monster does a tremendous FART,
Joe giggles in bed and the fun comes to a start.
Realising Moz isn’t scary the two become friends.
They play for hours until nighttime ends.
Piggybacks rides and racing toy cars;
Whilst Joe was meant to sleeping beneath the stars.
All-night antics started taking a toll
When Joe falls asleep and let’s in a Goal.
Moz slowly realises the friend he admired
Is extremely quiet and ever so tired.
The following morning is Christmas Day.
Joe finds a present wrapped in grey.
The wrapping not perfect but from Moz with love.
A nightlight to light the bedroom above.
Joe places his nightlight besides his bed.
Moz waves him goodbye as he lays down his head.
If I’m honest at first I wasn’t sure.
I loved the previous adverts I’d seen a whole lot more.
But, I rushed out that day to get the toy,
To add to the others for my little boy.
As I watched my son with his monster friend,
I realised I never wanted the magic to end.
His face lights up when the advert plays.
His monster, his friend through these winter days.
His been fed every dinner and enjoyed a bath;
Ridden a scooter, a bike and even a giraffe.
A sleepover at nannies one night by mistake,
Left my baby crying all night wide awake.
The sheer love for the monster has opened my eyes;
How magical Moz is and how cleverly designed.
The adverts teaches children why not to be scared,
Monsters are friendly no matter how haired.
It reminds us adults about a child’s mind.
How creative their imagination and how innocently kind.
I adore the advert and John Lewis even more;
After they posted a package through my door.
For the photos I sent of my son and his toy,
They sent us a copy of the book to enjoy.
Thankyou John Lewis. X
