I thought love was only true in fairy tales
Meant for someone else but not for me.
Love was out to get me
That’s the way it seemed.
Disappointment haunted all my dreams.
Then I saw his face, now I’m a believer.
The colour of his skin, suggesting a fever.
He was huge and an ogrely green,
The cuddliest swamp creature i’ve ever seen!
He gave me a kiss as we posed for a pic,
A fantastic experience that was over too quick.
Rewinding now back to the start of our day,
Entering Shreks Adventure through a grand doorway.
We walked through props whilst photos were done,
A huge big green screen adding to the fun.
We continued on our journey; meeting our host.
A beautiful air hostess filled the post.
She talked in character about the health and safety of the day,
Then sent us off and on our way.
Princess Fiona appeared and took over the tour,
Hyping us up singing and wanting more.
A bus then crash landed which DONKEY was driving,
On-board it simulated that we were flying.
4D screens wrap the windows of the bus,
Aromas and water splashes were a added plus.
We went on a journey to Far Far Away,
Stopping at the swamp where Shrek lived, typically the day he’d gone stray!
We was running from Rumpelstiltskin after an accident on the bus,
But he pops up throughout the adventure making a fuss!
Cinderella helped us with a show and tell,
Telling how get back to ‘London’ with ingredients for a magic portal spell.
The first ingredient we found in Shreks stinky loo,
The second provided by a psychic after her crystal ball clue.
After hearing our fortune we found a bar,
Where Puss in Boot proved to be a big star (Acting as our hero and providing his hair).
The next room contained Pinocchio on a wheel of torture,
Center stage of a game show which proved quite a scorcher. (Collecting our next ingredient).
We continued on our journey getting lost in a mirror.
The end of this horror story not seeming much nearer.
Sleeping Beauty then arrived with the last piece of the plan,
Then sent us off to the bakery to the magic Muffin Man (who makes wafflesssss).
Each piece of the spell we’d collected were tossed in his pot,
Finalising and bringing us the the end of the plot.
The essence of an ogre and the hair of a hero,
Secured us back at the Southbank before I could hush zero!
But, the wasn’t the end – we still wasn’t free.
We was struck in a prison without a key!
The evil Rumpelstiltskin had put us in jail,
Shrek came to our rescue but with no avail.
Then! Suddenly with a huge bang – Shrek saved the day!
We were saved by the ogre in the most heroic way.
The last bit of the adventure is one not to miss,
A chance for a cuddle and true loves first kiss!
The special effects were fun if not a little hair raising,
But exceptionally clever and simply amazing.
I’d recommend allowing a hour and a half,
To enjoy all the photo opportunities and continue your laugh.
The cost of the experience starts at £19,
Which is average for a attraction in the city or local towns.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend the tour,
I left very happy and wanting more!
